When looking for a brand of Leather protection for racing I was only interested in one thing, safety. I was involved in a bad accident on the road and so I know the importance of quality protection for “When” not “If” you come off. For me, road racing only further enhanced the likelihood of putting myself down the road. I have always heard good things about Q-Moto and their commitment to quality leather protection so I was very interested in approaching Brett for sponsorship. This was my choice, not his. I looked at a few different options before deciding to accept an offer from Quasi (Brett).

When my custom leathers arrived, firstly I was immediately impressed with the build quality. The attention to detail shows how much care is taken in the structural design which gave me more confidence to put my body on the line. The second thing was the design, simply put, they looked cool! I have an Ed Hardy tattoo stitched into the back of my suit and this has been made with leather cut out and stitched into place. It looks awesome!

Since I have been wearing the Q-Moto suit, I have had three ‘offs’ one being a pretty impressive ‘high-side’ at round 1 of the 2010 NZSBK champs at Ruapuna (Christchurch). I completely landed on my left shoulder with the titanium amour taking all the impact. My shoulder wasn’t even bruised after the crash and the only injury I received was bruising on the inside of my right knee from tumbling down the road. I made it out into the next race and competed and I firmly believe this was only because I had my Q-Moto full one piece on between me and the surface of Ruapuna.

For these reasons, I am happy to endorse the Quality of Q-Moto gear and if you are serious about your safety ‘When’ you come off your ride, you have to consider Q-Moto before making a decision. Ask questions before making a purchase; remember that a ‘big brand name’ is not always a sure indication that it is a good deal. Well this guy hardly ever crashes but when you race almost every weekend its going to happen so sadly the QMOTO renegade One piece has been crashed a few times now.
Guess what tho, nothing wrong with it thanks to its awesome construction.
