KNOX AEGIS RACE WITH COCCYX EN1621-2 LEVEL TWO BACK PROTECTOR
RACER 8 PLATE WITH COCCYX PROTECTION Although human beings don’t have tails, we all have a tailbone. The final segment of the vertebral column, the coccyx provides attachment for nine muscles, some of which control key bodily functions and damage to this bone can cause long lasting pain. Surprisingly, the coccyx does not need to be covered for a product to pass the current European standard for back protectors, but Knox ensure that this vulnerable region is fully covered on all their back protectors
It's hard to believe that there are still riders out there who have yet to be convinced of the benefits of a back protector. Essential on track days and – if you think about it – just as essential every time you ride, the Knox Aegis is claimed to be "the most technically advanced back protector available."
According to info from Knox, "statistics show that over 25 per cent of injuries to motorcyclists rated 'maximum' or 'critical' (the ones that cause crippling injuries or death) affect the spine yet there are still a significant proportion of riders unwilling to use a back protector. So the design team at Knox concentrated on tackling comfort, safety and style to resolve the issues raised by riders as significant factors when choosing a back protector. By developing solutions to these issues Knox have produced the most technically advanced and user-friendly back protector available today."
Exceeding the EU's toughest safety standard, EN1621-2 level 2, Knox's new racer 9 plate Aegis back protector is the safest KNOX has made yet. Multiple hard plastic panels containing foam made with inclined cell wall technology for high-energy absorption. Those same panels articulate in three dimensions with their neighbors to fit close to and move with the body. Featuring a belt that adjusts for height and available in three sizes, the Aegis offers reasonably priced, world-beating back protection for a wide range of riders.
The new generation of back protector – New for 2008
The new AEGIS back protector is the result of an intensive 12 month R & D programme and represents a new thoughtful approach to back protection that really addresses the needs of real riders.
- The new Aegis is 30% lighter and also a more refined shape and thickness than the previous Ricochet.
- A system of flex channels allow it to sculpt around the back, making it more comfortable to wear under tight outer riding apparel.
- The new Aegis is completely breathable with a superior air venting system for maximum air flow to keep riders cool.
- The spine section articulates freely, moving with the rider but at the same time ensuring maximum protection is maintained in all positions.
- A multi position waist strap system gives precision fitting. It ensures that the rider can fix the back protector in the correct position so it does not move upwards during use.
- A new integral shoulder strap slider system allows the straps to adjust automatically to the correct position during use. Ensures a personalised comfortable fit at all times.
- A fully adjustable and removable kidney section in soft PU gives added performance in this sensitive area.
- Independently tested and approves to EN1621-2 Level 2, which is the highest rating possible under current EU testing regulations, so the wearer can have complete confidence.
- Designed so that the spine section can be customised to create a personalised look for the wearer.
- Optional Knox CE approved chest protector can be bought separately and fitted.
KNOX proudly distributed by QUASiMOTOTorso length is the correct measurement to use when selecting your size of back protector.
The torso length is taken from the nape of the neck to the waist. Choose the nearest “torso” length on the size guide. This will give you the ideal size.
Please note the Aegis Race back protectors are longer as they have the added coccyx protection.
